Design Refinement
Design - Home Stretch
We are in the home stretch with our prototype design!
The big hurdles of durability, static and drop testing have been completed and we just completed a detailed price analysis to ensure that we can be price competitive in the market.
But the design has to be perfect, and after assembling several 3D printed Alpha Leashes, the brake lock button is not operating as smoothly as I would like, so back to the drawing board to optimize it. And from some quick design studies I should be able to remove some assembly complexity and make the new actuator even easier and more intuitive to operate. Fingers crossed.
Once that change is complete our final design phase will be to optimize the design for manufacturability. To this end I have several meetings lined up with some professional colleagues in manufacturing, where we will be reviewing each individual part of the Alpha Leash as well as taking it apart and re-assembling it several times. This work will improve the components of the Alpha Leash so that it will assembly easily, logically and correctly the first time. The design analysis will also help with planning scalable production to ensure that we can keep up with demand and still produce a high quality product.
Patent Application
I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since the application went in! With that in mind we should receive feedback from the USPTO examiner in June and will update you as things progress.
Kickstarter Campaign
Work has also begun on our Kickstarter campaign strategy. This will be the next big challenge and a lot of work is going to go into making sure that the Alpha Leash gets the funding needed to be a success!
With that in mind I am starting to reach out to various acquaintances and friends to build a Kickstarter campaign team. So if you know of anybody please reach out and let us know. Its not going to be just about the invention in this phase of the project!
Stay tuned for more updates, don’t forget to subscribe and Stay Safe!
